Savannah’s 165th Airlift heads back to Middle EastMarch 2006 --Two C-130s from Savannah’s 165th AW and approximately 80 Air Guardsmen departed Savannah in early March returning to the Middle East to fly cargo and personnel around Afghanistan Originally activated in April 2003, man airmen of the the Savannah airlift unit will be returning for their third or fourth deployment serving in Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom. The unit will be located in an undisclosed location. This deployment is expected to be the last deployment for approximately 19 months.
