LTC Ferrero Assumes Command of 117th

Lt Col Ferrero is a native of Crescent City, Illinois. He graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1983 with a degree in political science and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He served as a Minuteman III launch officer from 1983 to 1989, when he transferred to the Georgia Air National Guard in order to attend Emory University Law School, where he received his law degree in 1992.
In recent years, Lt Col Ferrero has deployed with the 117th to Italy to support air combat operations over Bosnia and Kosovo; Kuwait to enforce the no-fly zone over southern Iraq, and throughout the United States following 9/11. He recently returned from a four-month deployment to central Iraq, where the 117th controlled all tactical aircraft to ensure immediate close air support for soldiers and Marines.
Lt Col Ferrero serves as General Counsel of the Georgia Office of Homeland Security.
