4 Honored as Airmen of the Year

Four Georgia Air National Guardsmen, three from the 116th Air Control Squadron and one from the 224th Joint Communications Support Squadron have been selected as Georgia’s 2006 Outstanding Airmen of the Year.

From 116th Air Control Squadron at Robins AFB was SMSgt Rory H. Dunn of the 116th Medical Group who was selected as Georgia’s First Sergeant of the Year. MSgt Benjamin T. Morris of the 116th ACW Logistics Readiness Squadron was selected as the Senior NCO of the Year. SrA Andrew L. Maddox of the 116 Operations Support Squadron, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Flight was chosen as the Outstanding Airman of the Year.

The Outstanding NCO of the Year was TSgt Thomas E. Naldrett of Brunswick’s 224th Joint Communications Support Squadron.

The joint announcement was made by Maj Gen David Poythress, the Adjutant General and Maj Gen Scott Hammond, Commander of the Georgia Air National Guard. The four are now nominated by the state to the National Guard Bureau to compete for nationwide recognition.
