Col. James “Rev” Jones assumed command of the 116th Air Control Wing, as the first active duty commander of the first and only U.S. Air Force Wing to activate under the Air Force's Future Total Force concept on October 28, 2005. This is Col. Jones’s second tour of duty with the 116th ACW. Col Jones was the Operations Group Commander when the 116th Bomb Wing combined with the 93rd Air Control Wing, blending Air National Guard, Active Duty Air Force and Army personnel. Prior to taking command of the Wing, Col. Jones was assigned as the Special Assistant to the Commander at
Warner-Robins
Air
Logistics
Center
on Robins Air Force Base. He formerly commanded the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing at Al Dhafra Air Base in the
United Arab Emirates
.
Col. Jones received his commission through
Officer
Training School
in 1983 after graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in music education from
Louisiana
Tech
University
in 1981. He has held staff positions at the
Air
Land
Sea
Application
Center
, and has commanded at the flight, squadron, group and wing level. Col. Jones is a command pilot with over 2,700 flying hours. He has been awarded the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, and both the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
In November, Brig. Gen. Tom Lynn will become the Assistant to the Director of the Air National Guard for Logistics (ANG/LG) at Andrews AFB, MD
