Tuskegee Airman visits with ANG EEO officialsLt. Col. Hiram E. Mann (seated center), one of the original Tuskegee Airmen visited with the Georgia Air Guard's Equal Employment Opportunity staff during the Military Equal Opportunity Conference held recently in Minneapolis. Lt Col Mann was born in New York City, and reared in Cleveland, Ohio. He entered the Army Air Corps as a Pre-Aviation Student in 1942 and completed Single-Engine Combat Pilot Training at Tuskegee Army Air Field (TAAF), Alabama, 27 June 1944. He was initially assigned to the 302nd Fighter Squadron, reassigned to the 100th Fighter Squadron of the 332nd Fighter Group in Italy where he flew combat missions with both squadrons. Following the war he returned to Tuskegee Army Air Field then assigned to various units. Mann is a graduate of the Air University, Maxwell Air Force Base, (MAFB), Alabama, as well as the Air Force Command and Staff College, Class of '57. Lt. Col. Mann was an Admissions Counselor for the US Air Force Academy before retiring following 21 years of service.
