The
Historical Society of the Georgia National Guard will conduct its
annual conference, Saturday, October 22, at the Getaway Club, Fort
Gillem, GA. The meeting kicks off at 9:30 a.m. and is open to members
and the general public. A catered lunch is included in the $20 fee
payable at the door.
Colonial and post colonial Georgia is the conference theme with featured
speakers Lonnie Davis of the Ocmulgee National Park, and Ernie Stewart,
an authority on the Georgia militia during the Revolution. Also
scheduled is an update on current Georgia National Guard operations in
Iraq and Afghanistan.
