One hundred twenty-three graduate from
Youth Challenge in Augusta

One hundred twenty-three graduates of the tenth graduating class of the Youth Challenge Academy at Fort Gordon in August received diplomas at commencement exercises at the Augusta Civic Center in late July.

The July graduates were from more than 38 counties and over 80 communities throughout Georgia and represented one of the largest YCA classes to graduate from the Fort Gordon YCA campus.

Maj. Gen. (ret.) Janet A. Hicks, former Commanding General, U.S. Army Signal Center at Fort Gordon was the commencement speaker.

Georgia is one of only three states that operate two YCA campuses.  The Fort Gordon-based YCA program began in 2000 with an initial enrollment of 168 students. More than 1,300 youth have graduated from the Fort Gordon campus since it opened.
