The following tables reflect the proposed 3.4 percent military pay raise for 2009, which, if approved by Congress, will go into effect Jan. 1, 2009. |

President Bush's administration has released his 2009 National Defense budget request. The administration is requesting an across-the-board raise of 3.4 percent in basic pay for all military personnel. The U.S. Congress is currently debating an additional 0.5 percent raise, which would increase the 2009 military pay raise to 3.9%.
